The call for entries for the Busan International Short Film Festival 2019 is now closed.

A total of 6,072 films were submitted!

5,795 entries from 131 countries for International Competition, 872 entries for the Korean Competition. That’s 842 more International entries than last year: we believe this increase can be explained by the fact that BISFF is now in its second edition as an Oscar-qualifying festival, therefore garnering renewed interest and recognition from foreign filmmakers. Overall percentage of entries by genres is as follows: 67% fiction, 15% documentary, 11% animation and 8% experimental.

Our preselection jury, made of both Korean and foreign nationals, is currently at work to watch and review all these films; the finalists for the International Competition and the Korean Competition will be announced on February 21st on our official homepage(www.bisff.org).

Selected films will be screened during the film festival, which will take place April 24th-29th, 2019, where they will compete for 10 different award categories. We really appreciate all the filmmakers who submitted their films to our festival.
