Festival requirements:
- Films completed after January 1st 2014
- Running time should be under 60 minutes
- Films of all genres (Fiction, Animation, Documentary, Experimental)
※ Ending credits should be included in the running time.
※ Korean Premiere is not required.
※ There is no limitation to the number of films to be submitted.
Submission Deadline:
November 1st (SAT) 2014 ~ January 9th (Fri) 2015
※ If you do not submit your entry form and preview file within the due date, the entry will be canceled.
How to submit
Applications must be submitted via submission platform site and the festival preview must be uploaded.

※ Submission cost will be charged by the online registration web site. For ecological reasons, we avoid generating unnecessary waste- we don’t accept any submission of copies by post. Only online registrations will be accepted through the platforms indicated.
※ Non-English or non-Korean works must have English subtitles and be the same version for screening film in the festival.
※ Each entry must indicate the record of previous festival screenings and awards.

Festival objectives:
1. Organization
The Busan International Short Film Festival((hereinafter referred to as BISFF) is hosted by Busan International Short Film Festival Organizing Committee and organized by Busan International Short Film Festival Executive Committee.
2. Goals
The purpose of BISFF is to discover and introduce outstanding short films directed around the world. Moreover, BISFF aims to bring the world’s latest and hidden gem-like shorts in the spotlight.
Prizes and qualifications:
International Competition
- Grand-Prix for Best Film (10,000,000KRW)
- Best Director Award (5,000,000KRW)
※ Other prizes will be announced and the details are subject to change until Feb. 2015.

Festival Information
1. Process of selecting Finalists
1) The films for International Competition Section will be selected by the festival program team and the preliminary jury.
2) Directors and producers of selected films must cooperate for screening in the festival.
3) International Competition Section will be notified after 6 PM of February 24th (Tue) 2015 on the website of www.bisff.org and be notified individually as well.
4) If your work is selected, you have the right and the responsibility to exhibit your film at BISFF 2015.
5) The films can be selected for other non-competition and special sections at BISFF 2015 by program team.
2. Finalists: Submission and Return of Films
1) The screening format should be DCP, MOV(ProRes 422). Non-English works must have English subtitles.
(※ In case of other screening formats, only under the agreement between entrants and the BISFF, screening is exceptionally possible. You must contact the BISFF program team: program@bisff.org )
2) The prints of the finalists must arrive at the BISFF office no later than March 13th (Fri), 2015 (BISFF will not pay for the delivery). Be sure to mark all materials: “FOR CULTURAL PURPOSE ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL VALUE” when you send the materials using by post.
3) The entry prints or videos will be returned to the address on your entry form within 4 weeks after the end of Festival (BISFF will pay for the return courier).
4) In case the print should be returned to a different address, the print provider must inform the festival about the desired return address and date by sending a shipping instruction invoice.
5) For the BISFF, safety is our priority while dealing with film. Damages from unexpected accidents & natural disasters in the process of transportation, however, are not the responsibility of BISFF.
3. Screening & Copyright after Busan International Short Film Festival
1) BISFF has a right to have additional screenings of the finalists only the film events hosted by BISFF. In this case, the BISFF will get permission from the copyright holders in advance.
2) Under the distribution agency agreement with the copyright holders, BISFF may distribute the films through online media during the festival.
4. Archive
1) The films will be archived as the form of DCP and MOV(ProRes 422) with the consent of the copyright holders in order to screen the films for the non-profit purposes, after this festival. If necessary, the BISFF may request copyright holders to send a digital format on BISFF’s expenses.
2) If the copyright holders do not agree, BISFF will not keep the film in the archive.
3) Rescreening of International Competition selection is possible in the film events hosted by the BISFF after the festival. In this case, the BISFF must have permission from the copyright holder in advance.
4) Films kept in the BISFF Archive could be used for research and educational purposes, except commercial purposes.
5. Agreement
It is assumed that regulations are in force, once the copyright holders (directors, film distributors, agents, or producers) submit their signed entry forms to the BISFF.
6. Others
1) The excerpts from the submitted films which are selected as finalists could be used for the festival publicity. The total duration of the film excerpts (EPK clips) is within 3 minutes.
2) The BISFF Executive Committee has the right of all the conditions written in the regulations including the exceptions and takes its responsibilities faithfully to protect the rights of directors and their films.
7. General Regulations
1) The above regulations take effect with the submission of a completed entry form signed by the producer, agent or domestic distributor of the film.
2) The Executive Committee of the festival reserves the right to decide upon matters not discussed in the above regulations.
