Prequel of Austria Section of the 32ndBusan International Short Film Festival revealed!
The upcoming 32ndBusan International Short Film Festival held between April 24 and 28 will be showcasing the “Prequel of Austria” section to introduce the guest country of 2016. Among the European countries, Austria’s history of short film production is outstandingly rich and prolific to date ? especially but not exclusively in the field of experimental film. It is a must see for those anticipating a new style of film and a deeper viewing experience.
“Prequel of Austria” is especially comprised of 9 films directly programmed by Katja Wiederspahn, the Head Programmer of Viennale ? Vienna
International Film Festival, which introduces the most artistic films from around the world.
<Main Hall>, <Been Waiting for You So Long>, <Still Dissolution>
<Parole Rosette>, <Twelve Tales Told>, <Trespass>
<Rooms>, <Paperwork>, <Bringing in the Wood>
Some of the most Austrian-like, strong experimental films are: Main Hall(2013), which brings to life the rooms of the Main Hall in Vienna’s Secession Building; Been Waiting for You So Long (2012), which explores the private lives of the women confined to their families; Still Dissolution (2013), which brings the still-images of photographs to the moving film; Parole Rosette(2012), which awakens the audience to the sexual meaning behind a stage; and Twelve Tales Told (2014), which reflects the capitalist properties and film production spaces created by Hollywood major studios.
Also, in director of the animated film Trespass(2013) appears in many locations, showing those places being attacked as well as attacking them, thus casting light upon the program theme from different perspectives. Rooms(2013) explore the difference made by a filming site and place in action, fiction, and amateur films. Paperwork(2012) alternates between an office and a paper-manufacturing factory owned by the Italy Burgo Group located in the outskirts of Turin. And the only fiction film in the section, Bringing in the Wood(2014), makes you think about the loneliness between father and son during the son’s visit to his father’s home.
The above 9 films were carefully selected as a preview to next year’s Guest Country program, and this year’s “Prequel of Austria” Section will allow not only the audience, but also the critics and the cineastes, to meet the experimental film trend.
Noteworthy this year at the “Prequel of Austria” Section will be the visit of Katja Wiederspahn, Head programmer of Viennale ? Vienna International Film Festival. She will provide PG(Program Guide) before the screening, as well as co-host the GV after the screening. Busan International Short Film Festival is also honored by the attendance of directors Simon Spitzer of Bringing in the Wood and Sasha Pierker of Paperwork.
Tickets reservations for the, which is held for 5 days from April 24 to 28, can be made beginning on April 13 at the Busan Cinema Center website.
