Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) is at its thirty-fourth step.
The raison d'être of our festival is to discover & re-evaluate the aesthetic value & perspectives of short films from around the world and to also share the reflections on the world & life through film. To this day, the BISFF has prepared various programs and events every year.
This year the BISFF wants to share the attraction of short films with more people in “UP CLOSE.” You could see a variety of programs such as the “Competition Section,” the “Guest Country 2017 Canada,” “Prequel of New Zealand,” the “World Shorts,” and the “Shorts for Family,” as well as the “Operation Kino” (documentary film production support program), the “BISFF Asian Shorts Open Talk,” the “Busan International Transmedia Forum (BITForum),” the New Media (VR & Interactive Documentary) Exhibition, etc.
The BISFF has grown into a meaningful film festival thanks to the efforts & enthusiasm of many people. First, I would like to express my sincere condolences & gratitude to those who have passed away last year, Mrs. Na Sowon (former BISFF Chief Executive Director), Mr. Hong Yoeongchul (former BISFF Organizing Committee member), and Mr. Kang Yildo (former BISFF Festival Director). In particular, I am deeply grateful for Mr. Yang Youngchul, former BISFF Festival Director, for his great contribution for the past 5 years towards the development of the BISFF, and I am looking forward to his continued support. Finally, I would like to thank all the staff members who have worked enthusiastically for the preparation of the BISFF 2017 and to everyone who has supported the BISFF.
I would like to invite all of you to the BISFF 2017, a beautiful film festival held in Busan, the UNESCO Creative City of Film, during the wonderful spring season. Thank you.
