Past, present and genders are intertwined in this short film on patriarchy, the weight of traditions, what’s expected of women and the length one goes to in order to find emancipation and hopefully, solace. A dusty sitar and a suffocating fish are but two of the striking images in this admirable story centered on the confrontations between an overbearing father, his caring but questioning daughter, and her gender-swapped identity.
